8 week MBSR Course

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Arriving at Your Own Door

It is indeed a radical act of love

Just to sit down

and be quiet for a time

By yourself

What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a practice of coming back to the present moment with acceptance, compassion, and non-judgment for our very unique and personal experience. We may find ourselves continuously distracted, entertained, or functioning on auto-pilot. Life passes by and we somehow aren’t really even present for it. Many of us attempt to escape our own pain or suffering in this way.

Mindfulness is an invitation to explore, with curiosity and kindness, our experience so that we may meet our joys and pains with awareness and presence. It’s an opportunity to know ourselves a little bit more, and to open up to the possibility of acceptance. Acceptance for who we are, how we feel, and the thoughts we have. With awareness comes choice. As we practice awareness, new possibilites open up for how we relate to ourselves and interact with the world around us.

Mindfulness is not about relaxation or finding peace. It has been shown however that, through the practice, relaxation or feelings of ease and peace may arise.

Whatever your past experience, this course is an invitation to explore and deepen your relationship to yourself and the world around you.
